People, place and planning: the role of water

Tuesday 23rd May 2017 - Tuesday 20th Jun 2017

Ballarat – Geelong – Bendigo – Warrnambool

Developing a shared understanding of how local values and community needs relate to liveable and resilient cities and towns, and the role of integrated water management.

This series of half-day workshops provide a platform for Local Government, Water Corporations and Catchment Management Authorities to explore the values and community needs specific to your local area, and develop a shared understanding of the role of water in supporting regional communities. The role of water will be considered from a range of perspectives: vibrant centres, healthy communities, healthy environments, economic opportunity and climate resilience.

Join Clearwater and our team of industry experts to discuss how these values relate to the Victorian Government’s vision for resilient and liveable cities and towns, and discuss the rationale for – and challenges of – collaborative planning and management of water in your region.

The session will provide you with opportunities to:

  • contribute to a shared understanding of local values and community needs across your region, and the role of water in supporting these
  • enhance your appreciation of the context and priorities for different organisations and disciplines, and how they contribute to local community outcomes
  • explore the potential for collaborative water planning and management to deliver better community outcomes
  • strengthen your regional networks.
