Melbourne Sports Precinct

This video shows the water recycling facilities underneath the Yarra Park that cater for Melbourne Sports Precinct, including the MCG and Tennis Centre.

The water recycling facilities treat up to 180 million litres of water a year from the local sewage network to Class A recycled water standards. The water is used primarily for irrigation and in toilet flushing..

Additionally a large-scale stormwater harvesting scheme is being developed for the site with the objective of gaining more water from previously unused supplies.

Recycled supplies should soon account for about 60 per cent of the precinct’s needs.
